Inkaterra Hacienda Urubamba
Upon opening in 2015, after eco-conscious hotelier Inkaterra had already had been working on a reforestation project in the surrounding mountains, locals began to notice that many of the native animals were showing up in greater numbers. Of all of the hotels in the Sacred Valley, Hacienda Urubamba, on a quiet hillside isolated from other hotels, is the most connected to the landscape. The included excursions differ from the standard Sacred Valley experiences and include exploring its sustainable farm, making chicha, bird-watching, and taking a short hike in the mountains. Activity centers on the stunning main lodge, with a restaurant and lounge with a fireplace, designed of stone and large glass windows, resembling a colonial hacienda. Some of the posh rooms are there, though most are spread out around the property in standalone villas reached by golf cart. Every little extra you could imagine are inside, like heated towel racks, iPads, and complimentary minibars.
