Getting There -- The New York State Thruway (I-90) passes through the heart of it all. Amtrak (tel. 315/797-8962), Greyhound (tel. 315/734-4471), and Adirondack Trailways (tel. 800/776-7548) all arrive at Union Station, 321 Main St. The major airport in the area is Syracuse Hancock International.

Getting Around -- A car is more than a little helpful. And while half the fun is in winding along smaller local roads, I-90 provides the quickest route between major points; just be aware that it's a toll road.
