Great location, great value. This cool, comfortable, contemporary hotel opened in 2010 just in time for the Olympic Winter Games. It’s steps away from Stanley Park, and not much further from most of the attractions you’ll want to experience. All the guest rooms feature floor-to-ceiling windows for taking in that view—try to get a corner room to make the most if it. This is an exceptionally eco-friendly hotel, with a zero-waste policy, so you can feel good about staying here. You can also feel good while you stay here—the bright, airy lobby features white cubic stools and tables, while the guest rooms have nice, big, comfortable beds and low-slung modernist armchairs in pale leather. It looks like a much more expensive hotel than it actually is. Plus its casual eatery, Prestons, features a festive long table, all the better for enjoying its classics-inspired menu with friends. Note that another, older, less expensive Coast Plaza is located in the West End at 1763 Comox St. ([tel] 800/716-6199 or 604/688-7711; www.coasthotels.com).
