This is an exciting recent addition to the North Vancouver waterfront, right next to the Lonsdale Quay SeaBus terminal. Nowhere else do you get this amazing view of the city skyline and the busy port. Even better, the whole waterfront area is scheduled for a major makeover that will likely see a museum, shops, attractions, even a giant wheel like the London Eye. Meanwhile, there’s Pier 7, a cool little contemporary space with a couple of fantastic patios—the rooftop one has sofas and fire pits, the lower one can be enclosed on rainy days. There’s a kind of sleek industrial look to the building, evoking the area’s shipbuilding past, with lots of exposed structural beams and sturdy metal bits. The seafood-heavy menu features mainly casual classics, such as crab cakes, poutine, seafood chowder, a reasonably priced seafood tower, bouillabaisse, and rib eye steak. This is one of the few places in North Van that you can get a properly made cocktail, and there’s a good wine list to enjoy along with the sunset.
