Planning a trip to Vaux-le-Vicomte
Though it’s close to Paris, Vaux-le-Vicomte is not easy to reach by mass transit. By car, take the A4 east to the N104 south to Vert Saint-Denis, then the D82 east to Vaux-le-Vicomte (its GPS coordinates are Maincy, D215 road, 48.568727000, 2.713580000). Trains run from Gare de Lyon to Melun (25 min.; www.sncf-connect.com; tel. 36-358. 9€ adults, 4.50€ children ages 4–10), Then you’ll need to take taxi (about 20€ or, if it’s a weekend, a shuttle bus (“Châteaubus”) from the Melun train station (6€ per person round trip; free for children 11 and under).
