Hôtel de la Poste et du Lion d’Or
On the main square at the bottom of the hill, this former coaching inn turned hotel is our favorite in Vézelay. Rooms are calm and spacious with traditional wooden furniture; some overlook the village, while others have a view of the Morvan countryside. The onsite, and very gourmet restaurant, L’Éternel, serves creative Burgundian/French dishes (fixed-price menus 28€–48€) in a chic, but simple dining room. The light and airy bar, with its summer terrace, is the perfect spot to sample the local wines.
