The Zambian side offers a more spectacular vantage point than its Zimbabwean counterpart during high water (Apr/May-June), when the view is less obscured by spray. After a long, dry winter, however, when water on this side can be reduced to a trickle, the views can be dire (around Oct). The focus of a tour here is on seeing the main gorge and Eastern Cataract; you can also walk (or scramble, rather) across to a vantage called Knife Edge, where you will stand suspended above the churning waters of Boiling Pot -- a vicious rapid most rafters get to know a little too intimately. Warning: There are no fences on this side of the river, and every year, one or two people slip on the wet rocks attempting to get that extra-special shot or glimpse. If you don't recover your footing, the chance of survival is nil.
