Whether you are looking for a palatial room with a view or just a cheap-and-cheerful place to rest your head, Victoria has the perfect accommodation for you. Most are in the downtown area, with several of the best arrayed around the Inner Harbour and within easy walking distance of the main attractions. True, there are a lot of older hotels and motels that could use a bit of an update, but there are great choices at every price point. In fact, many prices have come down in the past 5 years, thanks to the weak economy and a fluctuating tourist base, which just leaves more cash to spend on souvenirs.

Inner Harbour

This is Victoria’s prime accommodation real estate, with hotels clustered around the bustling Inner Harbour, where guests can watch the fishing boats and floatplanes during the day and enjoy the soft sea breezes at night. Most of the main attractions are nearby, but the biggest attraction is that view. And that’s just what you’ll be paying for.

Downtown

The city center is where you’ll likely spend most of your time, so it’s a good place to stay as well. You’ll find a wide array of accommodation here, from luxurious inns to backpacker hostels. Everything you want is just a short stroll away, so park the car, and start exploring.

Outside the Central Area

While most of Victoria’s attractions, hotels, and restaurants are downtown, some visitors prefer not to stay right in the city’s urban center. For those travelers, there are basically two wildly different options. Where Hwy. 17 turns into Douglas Street, there are a number of inexpensive hotels and motels, convenient for those with early flights or whose journeys take them up island. And then there are a handful of beautiful high-end resorts in glorious natural settings dotted around the city’s outskirts. Both have their charms. Here are some of the best.
