One of the best places to discover the work of Victoria’s legendary artist Emily Carr, this cool little gallery combines a contemporary exhibition space with a historic 19th-century mansion. The gallery has an impressive permanent collection of more than 18,000 works from Asia, Europe, and North America, but the most popular display is the one featuring Carr and her contemporaries, which covers everything from her early watercolors to her dramatic later images of BC’s wild west cost, as well as influences such as members of the Group of Seven artists and First Nations artists.
