The brick walls of this dimly-lit, funky downtown jazz club are lined with instruments and photos of the local, national, and international jazz stars who have played here over the past 30 years. Wynton Marsalis and his band have been known to jam at Hermann's until the early hours of the morning after their performances at larger venues. Victoria-based pianist Tom Vickery and his trio have led a jam session on Thursday nights for decades, and traditional jazz sets by CanUs and Dixieland Express have run on Sunday afternoons for just as long. On other nights, you can hear big-band performances by as many as 20 musicians who squeeze onto the tiny bandstand at one end of the club. In late June or early July, visiting musicians from Canada, the United States, and Europe headline here as part of the Victoria International Jazz Festival. There's a full bar, along with a menu featuring fried appetizers, burgers, and salads.
