South of Stadtpark, this was a military riding school before its conversion in the 1990s, adding a modern glass structure to an impressive mid-19th-century Tudor-style castle. The elegant lobby has vaulted ceilings, contemporary sculpture, and marble pillars leading off to many charming side rooms, including a library. All of the guest rooms were renovated in the summer of 2013 and now offer top-notch bath facilities and excellent mattresses to match the sophisticated decor of wood and marble, with horse-related art at every turn. The restaurant and classy terrace are just the beginning of the extras—the establishment has a sizable indoor pool and sunbathing area in the garden, which feels like a faraway retreat from the busy city streets.
