This is where classical musicians aspire to perform, so you can count yourself lucky to hear a concert here. Acoustically, the Goldener Saal is regarded as one of the four best concert halls in the world. Some 600 concerts per season (Sept–June) are presented here, of which only about two dozen are by the Vienna Philharmonic, nearly all of which are subscription concerts, sold out long in advance. Inexpensive standing-room tickets are available for seven weeks in advance at almost any performance. This is also the venue of the legendary New Year's Concert of the Vienna Philharmonic, for which it is nearly impossible to get tickets, but if available they can cost up to €950.
