In September 2017, Hurricane Irma caused extensive damage across the island. Many places closed for rebuilding. Frommer's recommends that vacationers check in advance with all businesses before traveling.
We love this place for breakfast, when it offers a mouthwatering range of omelets, French toast and pancakes, and other specialties (like the breakfast burrito and vegetarian egg white frittata). Beyond the meal quality, the view of Esperanza’s quaint waterfront is at its most sublime in the morning. Dinners have gotten better in recent years, and focus on seafood, with dishes such as fresh Caribbean lobster in spiced rum butter sauce or the catch of the day in a pineapple salsa. For lunch, we can recommend the appetizers (conch fritters and Caribbean fishcakes) and salad selection, especially the Greek salad with grilled shrimp, feta, tomatoes, cucumbers, and red onions.
