Arriving

By Train -- Most visitors from Lisbon take the train to Faro, then proceed by bus to Vila Real.

By Bus -- From Faro to Vila Real, buses run each day to the Vila Real bus station on Avenida da República. They take 1 3/4 hours and cost 4.95€ one-way. For information and schedules, call tel. 28/151-18-07.

By Ferry -- In summer, ferries run between Ayamonte, Spain, and Vila Real daily from 9am to 7pm. The fare is 2€ per passenger or 5.50€ per car. Ferries depart from the station on Avenida da República; call tel. 28/154-31-52 for more information.

Visitor Information

The tourist office is on Avenida Infante D. Henrique, 8900 Monte Gordo (tel. 28/154-44-95). It's open Monday to Friday 9:30am to 5:30pm October to April, and Tuesday to Thursday 9:30am to 7pm and Friday to Monday 9:30am to 5:30pm May to September.
