B&B aficionados will swoon at the amenities and ambiance of this Civil War-era manor house. Every room features a gas fireplace, a fitting complement to the romantic decor (think: four poster beds, fine antiques, the silkiest of linens and piles of down pillows). Most of the rooms are located in the older section of the house, with three in a modern addition and a suite in a separate outbuilding. The largest room, Monsieur et Madame, a confection of cream damask and lace, is actually a suite of three rooms—even the bathroom has a fireplace. The smallest room has two twin beds tucked into an antique sleeping alcove covered in red-and-white toile. Check out the rooms on the website to see their decor, number of windows, desks, and chairs; the photos, for once, are quite accurate. Outside is a pool and in the basement a restaurant open for dinner only Tuesday through Saturday. Breakfasts, included in the price, are excellent. The B&B is in a residential area, about three miles from Chesapeake Beach, aka Chick's Beach.
