The Virginia Creeper Trail ends in Abingdon, which has several hotels and bed-and-breakfasts.
At the strategic intersection of I-81 and I-77 close to New River Trail State Park, Wytheville has more than 1,200 motel rooms, most in national chain establishments along the interstates. The largest concentration is at Exit 73 off I-81 (U.S. 11), where the Holiday Inn Wytheville (tel. 800/465-4329 or 276/228-5483) has its own restaurant. Also at Exit 73 is a Days Inn (tel. 800/325-2525 or 276/228-5500), Motel 6 (tel. 800/446-8356 or 276/228-7988), and Red Carpet Inn (tel. 800/251-1962 or 276/228-5525). Some rooms in the Days Inn, Motel 6, and Red Carpet Inn are virtually beside I-81 and are subject to traffic noise. You can also take Exit 73 to reach a parking lot-surrounded Econo Lodge (tel. 800/424-4777 or 276/228-5517), about 1 mile to the south on U.S. 11.
