Open since the 1960s, this is a place of pilgrimage for lovers of Portugal's traditional cooking. A plain stone house in the heart of the old town, with bare granite walls and rustic furnishing, it is uncompromisingly dedicated to preserving the cuisine of Viseu and its surrounding villages. Signature dishes include rabbit in red wine, or butter-fried octopus. A selection of smoked sausage and blood sausage fried up as an appetizer is most recommended. Excellent selection of local Dão wines.  Game dishes in season.
