Almost overnight, this little restaurant transformed from a hot dog shop into one of the city’s best “fast-casual” spots for Asian fare. Co-chefs Danny Lee and Scott Drewno (together as the Fried Rice Collective) opened this hit eatery in 2017, and soon drew a following for dishes like orange-ish chicken with candied mandarins, crispy chicken spring rolls, and wok-blistered Chinese broccoli and kimchi stew. Grab a seat at the reservation-only chef’s counter, offering a $55 tasting menu. Big name chefs guest star at its Chiko After Dark series featuring late-night dishes and drinks. Another CHIKO location is in Dupont Circle at 2029 P St. NW (tel. 202/331-3040).
