A $16 takeout salad may not sound like a deal, but compared to most of the other dining options at The Wharf, it’s a good bet if you’re on a budget. Chopsmith focuses on fresh and healthy eats, like salads, bowls, and sandwiches. Veggies feature heavily on the menu and range from signature recipes like the Wharf Louis, a medley of greens, tomatoes, cucumbers topped with lump crab, shrimp and hard-boiled egg, to premade antipasto and pasta salads to design-your-own mixtures a la Sweetgreen. Unlike many fast-casual salad shops, Chopsmith also has a full breakfast menu (breakfast burritos, sammies, and omelets) as well as beer and wine. There’s some banquette seating in the sleekly designed café, but I prefer to take my food to go and sit on the District Pier to watch the water taxis come and go while I eat.
