Le Bon Café comes by its French spirit honestly: Owner Sandra McCluskey worked in the kitchen of Le Bellecour, a Michelin-star restaurant in Paris. The menu pops between tres Gallic items— croque monsieur, quiche, croissants, tuna Provençal salad, and salmon Nicoise —and not-so-French items, like a Southwest chicken wrap and curried turkey. It’s all tasty and, just as important, great value for the price. The cafe is conveniently located right behind the Madison Building of the Library of Congress, a short walk from the Capitol. Look for the blue-and-white-striped awning shading a cluster of round tables outside. Inside are about eight marble-topped bistro tables and, usually, a line of Hill staffers and locals from the neighborhood waiting to place their orders.
