Le Bon Café comes by its French spirit honestly: Owner Sandra McCluskey worked in the kitchen of Le Bellecour, a Michelin star restaurant in Paris. She loves all things French and her menu reflects that: croque monsieur, quiche, croissants, tuna provencale salad, and salmon nicoise are among the choices. But you’ll also find not-so-French items, like a Southwest chicken wrap and curried turkey. I love all things French, too, and I can vouch for the tastiness of Le Bon Café’s offerings, all great value for the price. The café is conveniently located right behind the Madison Building of the Library of Congress, a short walk from the Capitol. Look for the blue-and-white striped awning shading a cluster of round tables outside. Inside are about eight marble-topped bistro tables and, usually, a line of Hill staffers and locals from the neighborhood waiting to place their orders.
