From its name alone, you may expect all poultry at this edgy Michelin-starred restaurant in DC’s Columbia Heights neighborhood, just north of bustling U Street. Instead, husband-and-wife duo chef Yuan and Carey Tang make veggies the star here. The menu (a prix-fixe four-course affair for $75 per person) changes frequently but a recent star is the Carolina-style barbeque whole carrots with cornbread ice cream. Don’t deny yourself the amuse bouche—citrusy pineapple buns with butter. And what’s with the name you ask? General manager and front-of-house lead Carey is the early-rising “rooster” and chef Yuan is the night “owl.” Aha!
