Waterville Valley's local ski hill is your classic intermediate resort: The mountain's trails are kept uniformly wide and well groomed, and the whole place is compact enough that no one will get lost or confused and end up hurtling down a double-diamond trail by mistake. It's a good place to learn to ski or brush up on your skills, but the selection and steepness don't rival those of larger ski mountains to the north or in Vermont. A terrain park above the base lodge is popular with both advanced and beginning snowboarders, however.
