Franco Zanotto, formerly of Il Casino, is the chef/owner here and he brings the same level of expertise (and perhaps even more attentiveness) to Zico Cucina. The menu is a hit parade of Italian classics—wood-fired pizza, veal marsala, risotto with squid ink, bruschetta, tiramisa—with a couple of creative NZ options, like veal stuffed with spinach and cream cheese, thrown in for good measure. Service is professional but warm (this is a family owned joint, after all) and the setting is equally homey. Tip: Zico Cucina is often open on holidays and times when other Wellington restaurants are closed.
