Ouirgane
Set in a green valley of the Oued Nfis river, this peaceful village is a great spot to stop between Marrakech and Taroudannt or as an alternative day-trip destination from Marrakech. There are plenty of easy walks around the village, some with great views looking down onto Lake Yacoub el Mansour, a recent creation thanks to the construction in 2008 of Le Barrage de Ouirgane (Ouirgane Dam). Mountain biking (100dh per day), horseback riding (500dh for half-day), and trekking with a local guide (250dh per half-day) with mules (50dh per hour) can be organized from the village's two hotels (I review one of these), where you can also indulge in some fine cuisine.
