This outdoor facility across Va. 199 from Water Country USA boasts 20-foot-high busts of the first 43 U.S. presidents -- at press time, a bust of the 44th president, Barack Obama, had not been unveiled. One wag has described this place as "Mt. Rushmore East." Standing as they do in the middle of a garden, they also remind me a bit of those mysterious stone statues on Easter Island. They're the result of 5 year's work by sculptor David Adicks. Self-guided tours explain each president's accomplishments, complete with music from his day. It's a quick refresher course in American history, but I don't think it's interesting enough to keep children's attention, especially after they've visited the Historic Area.
