This fine little restaurant, a beaut in blue-and-white toile, is tucked into the lower level of Wedmore Place Inn on the property of the Williamsburg Winery. It offers hearty American fare inspired by French cooking. Great slabs of meat are laid on buttery mashed potatoes or delicately-sauced local vegetables. Among the unexpected touches are amuse bouche starter, oil and butter offered with their thinly-sliced bread, and the excellent house-made sorbet. The wine list has about 100 offerings, including the winery's vintages. The cuisine, service, and scenic country setting make this a welcome getaway from all that colonial stuff only a few miles away.
