Frommer's Staff

The USS North Carolina was commissioned in 1941 and is permanently berthed here as a memorial to the state's World War II dead. You can tour most of the ship, and the Exhibit Hall houses a "through their eyes" exhibit focusing on recollections of the battleship's former crew. The ship is still painted in its 1944-to-1945 camouflage. A visitor center offers a large gift shop and snack bar.
