A sleepy beachfront inn that lies on a wonderful stretch of coast, the Caribe features rooms close enough to the beach that you can hear the waves and go to sleep smelling the sea. This is not the Ritz; amenities are minimal, and while we found it to be clean and comfortable, the place lacks the style that could make it a very special place. There is, however, a nice pool area with all the beach chairs and hammocks you could need. The beach itself is tops for surfing, and when calm snorkeling, but there is a dangerous undertow which keeps a lot of vacationers out of the waves here. Food is basic international and Puerto Rican fare, served on a terrace overlooking the ocean.
