Optimism can take many forms, but this bright-pink gingerbread house on the Old King’s Highway can certainly make a claim to one of them. Captain Frederick Howes built this beauty in 1849; as one of the finest examples of Gothic Revival architecture in Yarmouth, it is listed on the National Historic Register. Yet it’s a reasonably priced option, with breakfast served all day, an excellent range of lunch choices, and an elegant high tea. Though the menu has room for standards like omelets and sandwiches, what elevates it are dishes like curries and fish tacos.
