Hotels in Yellowknife

The campground most convenient to Yellowknife is Fred Henne Park (tel. 867/920-2472 for information on all territorial parks), just east of the airport on Long Lake. The campground is a popular summer recreation area for local residents and a destination for tourists. The Park has 104 campsites, with 54 electrical sites and 50 non-powered sites. Both RVs and tents are welcome; there are showers, kitchen shelters, potable water, camp stoves, and electrical outlets, but no RV hookups. At Prelude Lake Territorial Park, 29km (18 miles) east of Yellowknife, there are 28 rustic campsites, with no facilities beyond running water and firewood. Reid Lake Territorial Park, 61km (38 miles) east of Yellowknife, is near the opposite end of the Ingraham Trail, and is the starting point for popular canoe trips on the Cameron River. Reid Lake also has 28 campsites with running water and firewood. All three territorial park campsites are open mid-May to mid-September and charge the same fees: C$15 for a tent pad, C$23 for unpowered sites, or C$28 for powered sites, except Fred Henne, where powered sites are C$32.
