Inexpensive -- The Heritage Café at the Northern Heritage Centre, on Frame Lake (tel. 867/873-7551), has a good selection of inexpensive lunch items; this is a fine place to go for soups, salads, sandwiches, and pasta dishes, whether or not you plan on visiting the museum. It's open Tuesday through Friday 11am to 4pm and Sunday noon to 4pm.

Brand-name fast food is present in Yellowknife, and for people on a tight budget, this is probably the way to avoid the otherwise rather high cost of dining. All the downtown shopping arcades have inexpensive food outlets, as well.
