If you stay in developed campgrounds in the parks, the outdoor life is pretty civilized. You’ll have running water and, in most cases, flush toilets, plus there are opportunities to meet fellow campers.
- Slough Creek & Pebble Creek Campgrounds: These two small, primitive campgrounds in the Lamar Valley are prized for their proximity to excellent trout fishing and wildlife-watching. Plus, they’re much quieter than some of the other giant campgrounds in the park for a real away-from-it-all vibe.
- Lewis Lake Campground: The park’s southernmost campground has private-feeling sites tucked into the trees near the shores of Lewis Lake, making it great for paddlers or boaters.
- Indian Creek Campground: Smallish, quiet, and with close to top-shelf fishing and elk and bison viewing, Indian Creek is another option that really makes you feel like you’re getting off the beaten track.
