Sosu Seowon
The first private academy established in Korea, it was created by governor of Pung-gi County Ju Sebung in memory of Yuhyeon Anhyang, one of the greatest Confucian scholars of the Goryeo Dynasty. Because of its historic significance, the seowon escaped destruction during the nationwide closure of private academies in 1871. The old buildings are locked (opened only on ceremonial days), but the two buildings housing portraits are open daily.
