Said to be the oldest bar in California, the Iron Door has been open for business since 1852. It is named for its fireproof iron doors, imported from England a century and a half ago, and remains a must-see stop in Groveland en route to Yosemite. Black-and-white photos detail the life and times of local legends Black Bart and John Muir, long-dead animal heads gaze at your from the walls and there’s local color to spare. The fare is typical American: eggs and bacon for breakfast, hamburgers for lunch and dinner.
