Museum of Ancient Glass

Opened in 2009, this impressive museum displays a collection of over 5,000 pieces of Roman glassware, including goblets, jars, and vials, retrieved from archaeological sites across Dalmatia. The artifacts date from the 1st century B.C. to the 5th century A.D. On the top floor, you can watch a craftsman working with glass, employing the same techniques that the ancients used. The excellent gift shop stocks replicas of ancient glassware, in subtle blues or greens, making tasteful and unusual gifts to bring home. You’ll find the museum inside the 19th-century Cosmacendi Palace, on the eastern side of the Old Town peninsula, close to the sea channel.
