Zagreb’s hotels are generally of a high standard and offer comfortable rooms with private bathrooms; however, except at the top end, they tend to be somewhat bland. Many of the better hotels offer special rates at weekends, over the Internet, or for multiday stays, but you have to ask. Otherwise, hotel rates in the city are generally not subject to seasonal changes or cash discounts. Note that breakfast is included in the prices shown below unless otherwise stated. There is a slight dearth of good low-cost hotels in Zagreb, but as of 2010 several cleverly designed, rather quirky hostels have opened in the center, some offering private rooms as well as dorm beds, making them an interesting option for gregarious travelers.
