Situated on Zermatt's car-free main street, this characterful, family-owned guesthouse is a charming place to stay. It's unmistakably Swiss with its elegant interiors, friendly staff dressed in traditional Trachten, and occasional Matterhorn glimpses from the balconies. Each room is different, although they are all essentially alpine-rustic, with pine-clad walls. The family rooms (some duplex) are practical and spacious. An ideal ski lodge, the walls are hung with wooden skis and vintage photos of mountaineers, and there's a well-heated ski room with boot warmers. There are two restaurants—the Stübli serves cheese specialties and rustic Swiss dishes (think röstis, fondues, and raclettes), while the Restaurant Grill serves a more international menu. The fitness room and mini wellness area in the basement offer sauna, solarium, massage shower, steam room, and whirlpool access to soothe aching limbs.
