This classic restaurant is something of a local institution. It serves a host of traditional Swiss fare, but the real specialties here are the mouth-wateringly tender grilled meats, cooked over a wood fire. Highlights are leg of lamb, châteaubriand, and venison fillet in season. Other staples include the ubiquitous Swiss-cheese fondue, regional raclette, and meat fondues, all served in a cozy wood-clad interior, or on the terrace in summer. The restaurant is part of the Hotel Stockhorn, which belongs to the family of the legendary Matterhorn guide Emil Julen, and is hugely popular with both locals and visitors.
