This tiny, family-run restaurant in the Niederdorf district prides itself on good-value, uncomplicated food and relaxed, friendly service. The bold red walls serve to enhance the rich colors, flavors, tastes, and textures of the authentic Middle Eastern dishes, which (according to the menu) are based on "secret family recipes." Make a meal out of the lengthy selection of hot and cold mezes (from CHF10 each), with lots of vegetarian options, or add a main course to share—try the meschoui (skewers of spiced lamb, chicken, and beef) or tiger prawns in coriander-infused oil.  There are also three-course prix-fixe menus (from CHF60/96/132 for two/three/four people). A glass of the ultra-refreshing homemade rosewater lemonade provides the perfect accompaniment to the spicy, flavorful fare.
