Spain to Andorra

by Birdog »

I'm intrigued by the thought of a side-trip to Andorra from Barcelona. Have any of you made this trip? I suppose the only way to do it is to rent a car (3 or so hours?). If you have any experience with this, please reply.

Many Thanks,

Ronnie

We did it once from Hospitalet in France.  Interesting drive up, not difficult, but not much to see or do in Andorra (outside of ski season) unless you like to shop.  We had lunch and drove back down again.

Hi Ronnie,   I drive this trip almost every year.   I suggest you fly to Barcelona airport. Rent a car at Barcelona Airport, I recommend this website 66RentaCar.com (cheap prices), you can rent a car with GPS. If you do not book your car with GPS, I'm going to indicate where I usually go from Barcelona to Andorra:   - Go from airport to the highway A2 towards Lleida, and drive about 65km. - Take exit 545 to C-1412, heading Jorba / Ponts / Andorra and always leads the city of Ponts. - When you get to Ponts you follow the road C-14 towards La Seu D'Urgell and Andorra. - When you get to La Seu d'Urgell you are only 5 minutes from Andorra.   It is approximately 230 km, you can do it in 2 hours. It will cost about 50 € on gas. No tolls. Respect road signs and drive carefully.   I hope it helps.
