Three nights in BA - need general information

by jlmclane »

Will be traveling from Colonia to BA to spend three nights during our trip to Uruguay.  I am concerned about the safety of BA.  What areas are the best to stay?  Will need to rent an apartment?  Is Airbnb better than VRBO?  What do I need to watch out for?  Thanks.

I just came back from a 2-week stay in BA. We rented a studio apartment in Palermo Chico and had a wonderful vacation. BA is no more dangerous than any other large metropolitan city. Don't flash wads of money or flashy jewelry that draw attention to you. For 3 nights, you can stay at a hotel or an apartment rental. It's really up to you. I booked mine through Homeaway.com. I would recommend you stay in Palermo or Recoleta if you're concerned about safety as these are the more established neighborhoods. You don't mention what time of year you're going, so just remember that their seasons are the opposite of what's in the states.

Agree completely. Just dont wear expensive jewlery that catch attention. Stay at Palermo or Recoleta wich are nice areas and close to places to visit.

You can stay at hotel or apt. Of course hotels are more comfortable with all services.

Depend on budget.

In my 11 years of experience I have received visitors using Arbnb with no problems.

Hi jlmclane

Buenos Aires is a cosmopolite city with hundreds attractions:

Opera House (Teatro Colon, one of the best in the world because its architecture and acoustic).

Hundreds of different theaters, libraries, Tango houses (shows, dinners and dance studios).

It will take you more than 3 days. But if you are going to stay only 3 days, I would recommend a hotel instead of an apartment.

For other advices I’ll give you my data:
