Where to base myself in Bali

by almostlanding »

Hi,

I personally think if you want to go to two different areas in One week, perhaps base yourself at one location for a few days then move onto the next. As mentioned Bali can have a lot of traffic, and it would be a shame to waste time each day travelling.

Kuta is very touristy, I would recommend staying other places over Kuta. Seminyak is still touristy but not as much, and it is near Kuta if this is the area you wanted to see. Jimbaran is on the beach but the surrounding community is much less touristy (unless you go for a seafood dinner - a must!). Uluwatu is great for surfing. Ubud is a personal favourite and offers a more cultural side to Bali (but Ubud village is still very touristy). Have a look at our One Week Bali Itinerary if your looking for more ideas.

Enjoy your Trip,

Mandy and Chris

Ya right, its very great,It's a small island so you can explore it from anywhere.it higher so can be cooler. There are some very good restaurants, great shopping and it doesn't cost a fortune to hire a taxi to take you just about anywhere.  It's also a great place to settle in for a week.  I like the Penestanen area just outside and still walking distance to town.   You might look for a villa to rent for the week.  They generally come with a cook, a lovely way to spend a week, and they're available for just about any budget as well.

I would choose Lovina, for the following reasons.

On the north coast, Lovina is as non-touristy as you could hope to find.

One of the most chilled places on Earth, the beaches are covered with volcanic black sand.

I would like to second Lovina. We were in Bali for 3 weeks, moving around and it was my favorite spot by far. Felt like the real Bali.

The best place to stay in Bali based on your budget and your feeling. if you are teenage, young and need full entertainment with the same age, Kuta area the place to stay. if you feel more luxury style and fashion holiday style is seminyak & Nusa Dua area is recomended. When you feel more to the nature, yoga, health community, a bit quite from touristic, the good place is Ubud area. If you look quite place from tourist and more to the nature, there's few places you can pick such as Lovina, Amed, Medewi and Bedugul area.

if you look for escpae from bali, Gili Islands is recomended place to go. There's 3 islands, Gili Trawangan, GIli Air and Gili Meno. To get there you can check daily fast boat schedhule. Also if you would like to pick which place to base your self, all of them has different style. Gili Trawangan best for young, entertainment and get waste. Gili Air & Meno more quite and less entertainment, beautiful place to stay.

I would go to Tanah Lot Area, there are many good hotels there with beautiful scenaries! Of course the interesting temple but book the hotel far from there, too many tourists !

Ubud can be very touristy as well (but with a nice class of tourists than Kuta). If you want to see 'unspoiled' Bali, take the ferry over to Nusa Penida and stay at Namaste. There is a stunning beach just a short walk down the hill and it's just a great little spot to unwind.

Hi guys! I am looking for advice on accommodation on Bali.

I'll be traveling with a group of friends next spring. We need multiple bedrooms, nothing too fancy. I have been searching online for a while now, and the most suitable place is something like this.

I am hoping to get some feedback from people who have already been to Bali or from someone who lives there. I am looking forward to hearing from you. Thank you!
