Thinking of heading with the family to Placencia but have safety concerns
Our family of 10 people is planning a 3 generational family trip for my dad's 80th birthday. We know that Belize is on Frommer's list of the best destinations of 2015. Reservations are on hold in Palencia at the Belize Ocean Club for Christmas week. We heard some concerns about gangs, drug trafficking and violence. Is it a concern for our trip, as we pass through the Belize City airport or at various tourist destinations? Can we let our teen age daughters walk around on their own at the resort or in the town of Palencia? We have to commit to our airfare soon so would very much appreciate your advise. If we are good to go, do any of you have any recommendations for specific tours or activities not to be missed?
