Trail Ridge Road in Rocky Mountain National Park closes for season

by redbikegirl »

This is the road that runs through Rocky Mountain Natinoal Park and connects the east and west side (Estes Park to Grand Lake) and is a beautiful drive. It usually reopens for the season the last week of May.

Another account of Trail Ridge Road that has closed for the season, as of a few hours ago.

See www.denverpost.com/breakingnews/ci_24363482/trail-ridge-road-closes-season

It usually stays open as much as possible throughout the winter to the first lookout called Many Parks Curve - there are superb views from there on a good day. If you have good tires, go up before sunrise and marvel as the sun comes up - you're looking east and - as on this photo - southeast and you see many peaks light up - just fabulous - like this photo:

This is by a superb professional photographer from Colorado, Glenn Randall, off a Google Images search:

And this is later in the day, going by the shadows probably around noonish:

Apologies and thanks to whoever christopher j. is - this also came off a Google Images search.
