Bringing My Daughter to See Some of the CT Colleges and Would Like to Make a Vacation

Hartford area:
/>You're only about 45 miles away from Old Sturbridge Village, in Sturbridge MA. It's one of the oldest, largest and most thoroughly-researched outdoor living-history museums.
/>Mark Twain's house
/>the Wadsworth Atheneum, an often-overlooked but quite-serious art museum,
/>Harriet Beecher Stowe house

New Haven:
/>Branford Electric Railway museum, one of the largest collections of operating trams and other transit equipment
/>Yale University Art Gallery
/>Peabody Museum of Natural History
/>depending on schedule, several active theatres (commercial and Yale Drama School)

Middletown:
Aside from a tradition of steamed hamburgers (cooked under metal domes) Middletown is the place for Lyman Orchards, a farm-based food/entertainment/pick-your-own/etc. business that's been run by the Lyman family for 270 years (one of the oldest businesses in the U.S.) They frequently have weekend events (berry festival, corn festival, etc.). http://lymanorchards.com

A little further out, there's Mystic Seaport, as well as quite a few state-park beaches along the coast. Not too far from Middletown, on the Connecticut River, there's a steam railroad and steamboat trip combo, and there's also Gillette's Castle.

What's there to see and do, in and around Hartford, New Haven and Middletown? Thanks.
