Great book on the South Pacific

I highly recommend it to anybody thinking about going to the Cook Islands or other parts of the region. It's called "The Sex Lives of Cannibals" and as you can probably tell by the title it's very tonge in cheek. But it will give you great insight into the Cook Islands, its history and the culture there. I've pre-ordered Troost's next book which is coming out in a month. A very funny writer, well-worth picking up if you're heading to this part of the world.

And don't forget the old Michener, South Pacific book (the real book, not the musical) - it tells you more about the region than most, and it starts to make sense when you get to Papua New Guinea and some of the islands where relics of WWII tanks and such are still in evidence, or at the War Memorial (a museum) in Canberra where you can see the Japanese sub that made it into Sydney Harbour...
