I would like to know if I should go to La Fortuna or Monteverde?

I want to know if I should stay in La Fortuna or Monteverde?  Which has more to do?  How far is Monteverde from Liberia?  I would love to go to both but I only have 3 days, 4 nights.  I am also going to Manuel Antonio from there.

It takes about 2.5 hours to drive from Liberia to Monteverde.

Both Monteverde and La Fortuna have plenty to do for visitors who are outdoorsy and active. La Fortuna is a lovely spot to do some canyoneering - there are beautiful spots in the jungle where guides can take you rock climbing, rappelling, and zip-lining. Both La Fortuna and Moteverde have volcanoes in the vicinity (Arenal Volcano is near La Fortuna). In Monteverde, I would recommend a tour of the suspension bridges that dot the jungle canopy, or a trip to one of the coffee plantations in the area.

If you know what kind of activities you want to do, let us know so we can give more suggestions.
