Days 7-8 8/29- 8/30- Either Lake Bled/ julian alps OR Plitvice lakes (trying to decide between the 2) 8/31- varazdin/stay in zagreb? this is during the spancir festival 9/1- fly home into zagreb   Please let. me know any thoughts on itinerary. we are not SET on this... am worried this is too ambitious but not sure where to cut out.   thank you!

My husband and I were in Slovenia and Croatia for 2 weeks last year.  LOVED them both!!  Mostar...I had booked a hotel for us one night but we decided the "vibs" were not too good in that town and returned to Split.  LOTS of bombed out buildings still right in the main areas...just didn't feel comfortable.  Kotor...we did a day trip from Dubrovnik...waste of time.  The Bay of Kotor is beautiful, but not that much better than what we saw driving down from Split.  And Kotor defintely needs to do more maintenance...weeds in the parking lot right across from the main entrance to the old city. We drove around the Kotor area and it was all just very unkept.  With your tight time schedule I would skip Mostar and Kotor personally.  But Dubrovnik is just as beautiful as you've ever heard or seen in pictures!!!  I would return there anytime and certainly hope to return some day.  Plitvice Lakes is a wonder.  We saw only half of them...the upper lakes I think. We were going to do the lower lakes the next day but woke up to rain and 45 deg. so decided to drive on.  The Julian Alps are also just wonderful.  Our luggage did not arrive with us from Paris on our connecting flight so we spent the first night in Zagreb when we were booked into a hotel at Lake Bled.  We skipped Lake Bled and went trhough the Julian Alps on our first full day in Slovenia.  We wanted to make the performance of the Lippizaners in Lipica but I want to see Lake Bled some day too.  Hope this helps!!  Everyone is so nice and they all speak English too!!  Have a great time!!

If you are planning to visit Croatia, plan your trip ahead with this website. It will help you to find out what to visit, where to eat, where to sleep, tips to save money... Croatia is very cheap, pizza for £5.00! I recommend for you to visit Zagreb, Dubrovnik, Rovinj, Split, Zadar, Pula... Croatia has many great places but this are some of them. By!
