Split, Dubrovnik and Rovinj

by Gina1972 »

My husband and I are taking a Windstar Cruise in Oct. to places such as: Rovinj, Split, and Dubrovnik in Croatia. The tours are really expensive so we were wondering if we could simply get off the boat and see those destinations on our own? Or will we kick ourselves for missing out? Anyone know????

You certainly can in Dubrovnik. And if you'd like to book other tours, you could try such sites as Viator, CruisingExcursions.com and ShoreTrips all of which offer shore excursions that will have less people, and are usually less expensive, than what the cruise lines offer.

Split has a lot of cheap places to stay if you wanted to do that, many are just outside of the old town.  Though if you want to do it for a short trip it's easily done in a day or less.  Split generally is the base point for people who are island hopping for day trips or heading to other areas along the coast...
