Cruise that will be good for both tweens and toddlers: Royal Caribbean or Disney?

by Veronica »

Thought I should repost here, just in case: We're thinking of taking our grandchildren on a cruise and want to pick the right one. Problem is, our son has two toddlers and our eldest daughter has a 12-year-old. We thought a cruise might keep them all happy but we just don't know which ship. Also do they need to worry about sea sickness (it's been years since we took a cruise)? And are there extra charges for the kids clubs onboard? Finally, will there be places where adults like us can get away from the kids for a while on these ships? Thanks.

My kids are now grown, but we've taken them on many RCCL cruises when they were ages 4-22 as well as arranging multi-generational cruises. The activities and services have only improved since those days. The kids/tweens/teens had their own activities, adults the freedom to do whatever they chose, and we all ate dinner together.

Disney cruise line was in its infancy, so I can not speak to that. Friends with children under ten who have cruised recently loved their experience.

Though many do not consider it, a family reunion cruise can be an affordable option for people from all over the country to spend time with relatives though not 24/7.
